With portions of the project to be completed in all three cities, a 28E Agreement has been prepared to identify preliminary costs for each jurisdiction. The City of Clive received bids for the proposed scope of work on June 17th with Des Moines Asphalt & Paving submitting the low bid of $972,888.50. As the lead agency for the project, the City of Clive is set to award a contract to Des Moines Asphalt & Paving for that amount at their June 24th City Council meeting. At this time, the City of Clive would request that the City of Waukee consider and accept the bids at their June 21st City Council meeting. The project timeline includes a late start date of September 7, 2021 and a completion date of October 29, 2021. We look forward to continue working with you on the successful completion of this project. This project is included in the approved FY 2022 Capital Improvements Plan approved by City Council in March 2021 with a total project budget of $750,000. FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: The City of Waukee portion for the project, including the construction costs per bid and estimated engineering fees, is approximately $480,000.00. COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT: STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Staff recommends concurrence with Clive City Council award of contract to Des Moines Asphalt & Paving of Ankeny, IA in the amount of $972,888.50. Resolution PREPARED BY:Beth Richardson REVIEWED BY: Rudy Koester RK H6B RESOLUTION 2021- RESOLUTION CONSENTING TO THE CITY OF CLIVE’S MAKING AWARD OF CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT FOR THE MEREDITH DRIVE/WARRIOR LANE HMA OVERLAY PROJECT BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, STATE OF IOWA: Section 1.That the City of Waukee consents to the following bid for the construction of certain public improvements described in general as the Meredith Drive/Warrior Lane HMA Overlay Project, described in the plans and specifications heretofore adopted by this Council on June 21, 2021, being accepted by the City of Clive, the same being the lowest responsive, responsible bid received for such work, as follows: Contractor: Des Moines Asphalt & Paving of Ankeny, IA Amount of bid: $972,888.50 Portion of project: All construction work Section 2.That Clerk is hereby directed to notify the City of Clive that the City of Waukee consents to the City of Clive’s execution of the contract with the contractor for the construction of the public improvements, such contract not to be binding on the City until approved by this Council.
