AGENDA ITEM:Consideration of approval of a resolution awarding quote [Centennial
Park Ball Field Fencing Project]
FORMAT:Consent Agenda
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The FY22 budget includes funding for replacing the
existing fence at the three Centennial Park ball fields. The current fence
has deteriorated in recent years and has become a safety concern. The
new fence will be taller and the backstops will now have a 4 foot hood
on top to help keep foul balls in the field of play. New gates are included
in the project as well. This project will start after Parks & Recreation
Leagues wrap up seasons on October 18, 2021 and should be completed
before December 3, 2021. Parks & Recreation Staff recommends
approval of this project in the amount $119,462.00.
Two Quotes were received:
Des Moines Steel Fence $119,462.00
American Fence Company $141,216.00
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:$119,462.00

AWARDING QUOTE FOR CENTENNIAL PARK BALL FIELD FENCING PROJECT
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF WAUKEE, IOWA:
That the following quote for certain public improvements described in general as Centennial
Park Ball Field Fencing Project and described in the Request for Quotes that was provided to
vendors be and is hereby accepted, the same being the lowest responsible quote received for such
work, as follows:
Contractor: Des Moines Steel Fence of Des Moines, IA
Amount of quote: $119,492.00
PASSED AND APPROVED this 21st day of June, 2021.
