SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The project bid letting was held at Waukee City Hall
on February 18, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. Five (5) bids were received with the
low base bid from All Star Concrete, LLC, in the amount of
$519,995.00. The bid form included one alternate (Add play structure
‘B’ with associated play surfacing, play surface edging and storm lines).
Staff is recommending approval of alternate No. #1 ($105,400.00) for a
total lump sum bid of $625,395.00).
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:$625,395.00
COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT:
STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: City staff recommends awarding contract to All Star
Concrete, LLC, of Ankeny, IA, in the amount of $625,395.00.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution

RESOLUTION 2020-
RESOLUTION MAKING AWARD OF CONSTRUCTION
CONTRACT FOR THE ALICE NIZZI PARK
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, STATE
OF IOWA:
Section 1.That the following bid for the construction of certain public improvements
described in general as the Alice Nizzi Park, described in the plans and specifications heretofore
adopted by this Council on March 2, 2020, be and is hereby accepted, the same being the lowest
responsive, responsible bid received for such work, as follows:
Contractor: All Star Concrete, LLC, of Ankeny, IA
Amount of bid: $625,395.00
Portion of project: All construction work
Section 2.That the Mayor and Clerk are hereby directed to execute the contract with the
contractor for the construction of the public improvements, such contract not to be binding on the
City until approved by this Council.
PASSED AND APPROVED this 2nd day of March, 2020.

The City of Waukee received Five (5) bids for the Alice Nizzi Park project on February 18, 2020. The low bidder was
All Star Concrete LLC with a base bid the amount of $519,995.00. The attached Bid Tabulation summarizes the base
bid and bid alternate amount submitted by the bidder.
Base Bid scope of work is as follows:
· The Project consists of, but is not limited to, construction of a new playground, walking paths and
associated site improvements at Alice Nizzi Park in Waukee, IA, located at 715 NE Dellwood Drive,
Waukee, IA 50263.
Alternate Bid No. 1 scope of work is as follows:
· Add Play Structure ‘B’ with associated play surfacing, play surface edging and storm lines.
After reviewing bids submitted with City Representatives, RDG Planning & Design recommends the City of Waukee
accept the low base bid submitted by All Star Concrete LLC as follows:
