Home My WebLink About2020-04-06-H01 Official Zoning Map_PH AGENDA ITEM: CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA CITY COUNCIL MEETING COMMUNICATION MEETING DATE: April 6, 2020 AGENDA ITEM: Public Hearing on an Ordinance to amend Chapter 169, Zoning Ordinance, City of Waukee, Iowa, by amending Chapter 169.01, Establishment of Districts: Provisions for Official Zoning Map, by repealing said section and enacting in lieu thereof the readoption of the Official Zoning Map FORMAT: Public Hearing SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The current Official Zoning Map was adopted by the City Council on March 4, 2019. Since then, a total of 11 rezoning applications have been completed as well as a few small annexations that are not reflected on the current Official Zoning Map. FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT: The Planning and Zoning Commission reviewed the proposed request on March 10, 2020, and recommended approval: Approval of an Amendment to Chapter 169.01 (Official Zoning Map for City of Waukee, State of Iowa) Senior Planner Melissa DeBoer introduced the amendment. Mrs. DeBoer advised that, if approved, the amendment would allow updated changes to the Waukee Zoning Map to match the current zoning of the city. Commissioner Streit questioned why the approval of the zoning map comes to planning and zoning when they approve the changes to begin with. Staff advised that it is an ordinance amendment and requires review by the commission and council. Commissioner Koshy moved to approve the amendment to Chapter 169.01 (Official Zoning Map for the City of Waukee, State of Iowa). The movement was seconded by Commissioner Broderick. Ayes: Broderick, Ward, Streit, Koshy, and Inman. Nays: None. Motion Carries. STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: The proposed Official Zoning Map should be updated on an annual basis in order to provide current and accurate data for the public and those requesting information regarding zoning.
