AGENDA ITEM: Public Hearing on the vacation and disposal of a street or alley pursuant to
Iowa Code Sections 354.23, 364.12(2)(A) and 364.7(2020) [Elm Street]
FORMAT: Public Hearing
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: Elm Street is located west of 6th Street and is a composed
of a portion which is paved as well as a portion that is gravel. The Elm Street
right of way dead ends at the former railroad right of way which is intended to
eventually be an extension of the trail system which connects to the Raccoon
River Valley Trail.
It is staff’s recommendation that a portion of the existing right of way
(approximately 0.24 acres) located at the far west end of the street is of no
direct benefit to the public and could be considered for vacation and disposal.
