FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:$133,473.80 COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT: STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: The bids were significantly higher than the engineer’s estimate of $100,282.05. It is believed this is in part due to the uncertain times facing our country today as well as the size of the project and its proximity to the busy Hickman Road corridor. With the cost sharing between the City of Waukee and the Iowa Department of Transportation the project remains within budget. City staff recommends awarding contract to JT Concrete, Inc., of West Des Moines, IA, in the amount of $133,473.80. RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution ATTACHMENTS: I. Proposed resolution II. Bid tabulation PREPARED BY: Becky Schuett/Sara Kappos REVIEWED BY:Sara Kappos SKK I6B RESOLUTION 2020- RESOLUTION MAKING AWARD OF CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT FOR THE 2020 ADA SIDEWALK IMPROVEMENTS BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, STATE OF IOWA: Section 1.That the following bid for the construction of certain public improvements described in general as the 2020 ADA Sidewalk Improvements, described in the plans and specifications heretofore adopted by this Council on April 6, 2020, be and is hereby accepted, the same being the lowest responsive, responsible bid received for such work, as follows: Contractor: JT Concrete, Inc., of West Des Moines, IA Amount of bid: $133,473.80 Portion of project: All construction work Section 2.That the Mayor and Clerk are hereby directed to execute the contract with the contractor for the construction of the public improvements, such contract not to be binding on the City until approved by this Council.
