AGENDA ITEM:Consideration of approval of a resolution approving contribution of
funds to Waukee Area Christian Services for assistance with COVID-19
pandemic response

SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: At the 05/11/2020 City Council special meeting, the
council discussed a possible financial contribution to Waukee Area
Christian Services to be applied to their rental housing assistance, utility
assistance and food pantry programs.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:$50,000 ($10,000 from
the City’s LMI Fund for rental housing assistance; the remaining
$40,000 to for utility assistance and the food pantry.

THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
RESOLUTION 2020-
APPROVING CONTRIBUTION OF FUNDS TO WAUKEE AREA CHRISTIAN
SERVICES FOR ASSISTANCE WITH COVID-19 PANDEMIC RESPONSE
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Dallas County, State of Iowa, is a duly organized Municipal
Organization; AND,
WHEREAS, Waukee Area Christian Services has a long history of providing much needed
social services in the community; AND,
WHEREAS, Waukee Area Christian Services has seen a greater demand for services in the
community as a result of the current COVID-19 global pandemic; AND,
WHEREAS, the Waukee City Council desires to provide financial assistance to the residents of
Waukee by contributing to the programs of Waukee Area Christian Services during this difficult
time.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council that a one-time
contribution of $50,000.00 to Waukee Area Christian Services for their food pantry, rental
housing assistance, and utility payment assistance programs is hereby approved.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that $10,000.00 of the total contribution shall be allocated
from the Low to Moderate Income (LMI) Fund for specific use with rental housing assistance,
and the remaining $40,000.00 shall be allocated from the General and Utilities Funds.
Passed by the City Council of the City of Waukee, Iowa, and approved this the 18th day of May,
2020.
