bond [Traffic Signal System Enhancement Project]

SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: This project includes the furnishing of all labor,
equipment, and materials for the construction of the Traffic Signal System Enhancement project at
the City operated traffic signals. The project consists of replacement of the existing inductive loop
detection at most of the existing City operated traffic signals with video and radar detection systems
for detection flexibility associated with the upcoming traffic signal performance measures project.
The project location is citywide. The project was awarded to Iowa Signal, Inc. of Grimes, Iowa at
the May 18, 2020 City Council meeting.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:$543,350.00

RESOLUTION APPROVING CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT
AND BOND FOR THE TRAFFIC SIGNAL SYSTEM
ENHANCEMENTS
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, STATE
OF IOWA:
That the construction contract and bond executed and insurance coverage for the
construction of certain public improvements described in general as the Traffic Signal System
Enhancements, and as described in detail in the plans and specifications heretofore approved, and
which have been signed by the Director of Public Works on behalf of the City be and the same are
hereby approved as follows:
Contractor: Iowa Signal, Inc., of Grimes, IA
Amount of bid: $543,350.00
Bond surety: Old Republic Surety Co.
Date of bond: May 22, 2020
Portion of project: All construction work

It is agreed that the notice and instructions to bidders, the proposal filed by the Contractor, the specifications, the plan, if
any, for project(s) listed herein, together with Contractor's performance bond, are made a part hereof and together with
this instrument constitute the contract. This contract contains all of the terms and conditions agreed upon by the parties
hereto.
Contractor, for and in considerations of $________________ payable as set forth in the specifications constituting a part
of this contract, agrees to construct various items of work and/or provide various materials or supplies in accordance with
the plans and specifications therefore, and in the locations designated in the Notice to Bidders.
Contractor certifies by signature on this contract, under pain of penalties for false certification, that the Contractor has
complied with Iowa Code Section 452A.17(8) as amended, if applicable, and Iowa Code Section 91C.5 (Public
Registration Number), if applicable.
In consideration of the foregoing, Contracting authority hereby agrees to pay the Contractor promptly and according to
the requirements of the specifications the amounts set fourth, subject to the conditions as set forth in the specifications.
It is further understood and agreed that the above work shall also be commenced or completed in accordance with
Contract Time of this Contract and assigned Notes.
To accomplish the purpose herein expressed, the Contracting authority and Contractor have signed this and one other
identical instrument.
For Federal-Aid Contracts the Contractor certifies that each subcontract is evidenced in writing and that it contains all
pertinent provisions and requirements of the contract.
