AGENDA ITEM: Consideration of approval of a resolution approving quote for demolition
of structures [28253 U Avenue]

SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The City recently acquired the property located at
28253 U Avenue, which includes a house and two outbuildings. . Staff
requested quotes for the demolition of the structure and restoration of the
site.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:
COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT:
STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Three quotes were received for the project:
Elder Corporation: $36,380.00
J Pettiecord: $40,000.00
DeCarlo Demolition: $35,395.00
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval of resolution awarding the quote to
DeCarlo Demolition in the amount of $35,395.00.

RESOLUTION 2020-
APPROVING QUOTE FOR DEMOLITION OF STRUCTURES – 28253 U AVENUE
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Dallas County, State of Iowa, is a duly organized Municipal
Organization; AND,
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee recently acquired the property located at 28253 U Avenue and has
determined that several structures need to be removed; AND,
WHEREAS, City staff requested quotes for the demolition of structures and restoration of the property;
AND,
WHEREAS, having reviewed the submitted quotes, City staff recommends awarding quote for demolition
services located at 28253 U Avenue to DeCarlo Demolition of Des Moines, Iowa in the amount of
$35,395.00.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waukee, Iowa that the
quotes for the structure demolition as noted above be accepted and approved.
Passed by the City Council of the City of Waukee, Iowa, and approved the 1st day of June, 2020.
