AGENDA ITEM:Consideration of approval of an ordinance to amend Chapter 501, Waukee
Municipal Code, regarding the speed limit on SE Waco Place within the city
limits of the City of Waukee Iowa [introduction; first reading]
FORMAT:Ordinance
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: City staff conducted an engineering and traffic
investigation on SE Waco Pl from E Hickman Rd to SE University Ave.
Based on the results, it is recommended to change the posted speed limit from
35 MPH to 30 MPH on SE Waco Pl from E Hickman Rd to SE Laurel St.
This recommendation is a part of phase one traffic calming measures to be
implemented on SE Waco Pl.

ORDINANCE NO. _________
AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 501, WAUKEE MUNICIPAL CODE,
REGARDING THE SPEED LIMIT ON SE WACO PLACE WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS
OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA.
WHEREAS, the City has conducted an engineering and traffic investigation on Waco
Place, from E Hickman Road to SE Laurel street; and
WHEREAS, based on the study, the City Council of the City of Waukee has determined
that the speed limit should be changed on certain portions of SE Waco Place within the City of
Waukee.
BE IT THEREFORE ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Waukee:
Section 1: Chapter 501, Waukee Municipal Code, Regulation of Traffic Upon and Use
of the Streets of Waukee, Iowa, is hereby amended by changing Section 501.9(F)(10) as follows:
§501.9(F)(10) The speed limit on Waco Place, from E Hickman Road to SE
Laurel street, shall be 30 MPH
Section 2 Repealer. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions
of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 3. Severability Clause. If any section, provision or part of this ordinance shall
be adjudged invalid or unconstitutional, such adjudication shall not affect the validity of the
ordinance as a whole or any section, provisions or part thereof not adjudged invalid or
unconstitutional.
Section 4. Effective Date. This ordinance shall be in effect from and after its final
passage, approval and publication as provided by law.
