Agreement for Professional Consulting Services with Farnsworth Group
[Waukee Public Works Site Expansion Phase 1]
FORMAT:Resolution
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The original agreement was approved by City Council on
November 18, 2019. The amendment consists of architectural and engineering services for a site
expansion and construction of a separate cold storage facility at the existing Public Works Campus.
Spaces discussed, but not yet finalized, include additional equipment and material storage, bulk salt
storage, and suitable site paving to accommodate the new facilities. The project may involve the
design services as needed for construction of a complete project and/or a shell of the complete project.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: The total Not-to-Exceed fees are
$187,500. See the below breakdown of these expenses:
I.Lump sum $175,000
II.Total reimbursable expenses $ 12,000
TOTAL $187,500

APPROVING FIRST AMENDMENT TO AGREEMENT FOR PROFESSIONAL
CONSULTING SERVICES WITH FARNSWORTH GROUP [WAUKEE PUBLIC
WORKS SITE EXPANSION PHASE 1]
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Dallas County, State of Iowa, is a duly organized Municipal
Organization; AND,
WHEREAS, on November 18, 2019, the Waukee City Council approved an Agreement for
Professional Consulting Services with Farnsworth Group related to the Waukee Public Works
Site Plan Expansion (Resolution #19-429); AND,
WHEREAS, a First Amendment to Agreement is proposed to address architectural and
engineering services for a site expansion and construction of a separate cold storage facility at
the existing Public Works Campus;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waukee that the
First Amendment to Agreement for Professional Consulting Services with Farnsworth Group
[Waukee Public Works Site Expansion Phase 1] is hereby approved.
Passed by the City Council of the City of Waukee, Iowa, and approved the 19th day of October,
2020.

Re: Owner/Architect Agreement – First Amendment
Waukee Public Works Site Expansion – Phase I
Dear Rudy,
I want to take this opportunity to thank you for allowing us to continue our relationship with the
City of Waukee, and in particular, the Waukee Public Works Department, as you consider an
expansion. We look forward to the new project.
As we have discussed, we propose to modify and amend the original agreement Dated 18th day
of November, 2019, to cover the proposed scope of your new project. We propose the following
revisions:

Revised Contract date: October 12, 2020.
Project description:
Architectural services for a possible site expansion and separate cold storage facility to
the existing Public Works campus. Spaces discussed, but not yet finalized, include
additional equipment storage, salt shed, and suitable site paving to accommodate the new
facilities The project may involve the design services as needed for construction of a
complete project and/or a shell of the complete project.
2. SCHEDULE: Exhibit C: Project Schedule revise to following:
Start Design Process: October 12, 2020
Project Bidding Documentation Complete April 1, 2021
Project Bids: May 1, 2021
Project construction Commences July 1, 2021
Project Construction Completion: May 1, 2022
3. COMPENSATION: Revise paragraph to read as follows:

A. In consideration of the professional services provided herein, the City agrees to pay the
Consultant the following lump sum of $175,000, excluding any authorized reimbursable
expenses, as set forth in Exhibit D.
Total Reimbursable Expenses: $ 12,500
Total Fee including reimbursable expenses: $187,500
Please see attached Exhibit D: Schedule of 2020 Hourly Rates.
Delete the following paragraph:
I. Architectural Services of the Services for a public works facility expansion study in the
amount of hourly not to exceed $12,500.
If you agree with the revisions, please have an authorized person sign on the line below. Attached
is a copy of the original agreement.

phase.
