[Community Water System Risk and Resilience Assessment] FORMAT:Resolution SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The Engineering Agreement is for the consultant to complete a Risk & Resilience Assessment required under the America’s Water Infrastructure Act of 2018 for the drinking water system. Veenstra & Kimm, Inc will provide a Risk & Resilience Assessment on the City’s community water system, prepare the Certification to the EPA Administrator that the City has conducted and reviewed the assessment, prepare the Certification to the EPA Administrator that the City has prepared and has on file an Emergency Response Plan for the City’s community water system, and assist the City in identifying equipment, facilities, and/or projects which are eligible for grant funding under the Drinking Water Infrastructure Risk & Resilience Program. FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: Contract is not to exceed $38,500. COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT: STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: RECOMMENDATION: Approve Resolution and Agreement. [COMMUNITY WATER SYSTEM RISK AND RESILIENCE ASSESSMENT] IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Dallas County, State of Iowa, is a duly organized Municipal Organization; AND, WHEREAS, America’s Water Infrastructure Act of 2018 requires the assessment of risks from and resiliency to malevolent acts, including terrorism and natural hazards, for community water systems serving more than 3,300 persons; AND, WHEREAS, City staff recommends retaining the services of Veenstra & Kimm, Inc., to conduct the required risk and resilience assessment. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waukee that the Engineering Agreement with Veenstra & Kimm, Inc. [Community Water System Risk and Resilience Assessment] is hereby approved.
