AGENDA ITEM: Consideration of approval of a resolution approving quote for demolition
of foundations and site repair [10 Northview Drive, 5 Bel Aire Drive, 10
Bel Aire Drive]
FORMAT: Resolution
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The City previously entered into an agreement for the
removal of the existing houses as well as two garage structures at 10
Northview Drive, 5 Bel Aire Drive and 10 Bel Aire Drive in preparation
for the upcoming five way intersection project. Once those structures are
removed later this month, the foundations will need to removed and the
basements will need to be filled in. All remaining debris associated with
the former homes will also need to be removed. Staff requested quotes
for the remaining work that will need to be completed at these three
properties once the structures are removed.

STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Three quotes were received for the project:
Elder Corporation: $36,500.00
J Pettiecord: $52,125.00
DeCarlo Demolition: $39,500.00
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval of resolution awarding the quote to Elder
Corporation in the amount of $36,500.00.

RESOLUTION 2020-
APPROVING QUOTE FOR DEMOLITION OF FOUNDATIONS AND REPAIR OF
SITES–
[10 NORTHVIEW DRIVE, 5 BEL AIRE DRIVE, 10 BEL AIRE DRIVE]
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Dallas County, State of Iowa, is a duly organized Municipal
Organization; AND,
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee owns property located at 10 Northview Drive and 5 and 10 Bel
Aire Drive that were acquired for the proposed improvements to the intersection of Warrior Lane and
Ashworth Drive; AND,
WHEREAS, the City has previously entered into a contract for the removal of the structures on the
properties, however, the remaining foundations and general site restoration will need to be completed
once the structures are removed; AND,
WHEREAS, City staff requested quotes for the demolition of foundations and restoration of the
property; AND,
WHEREAS, having reviewed the submitted quotes, City staff recommends awarding quote for
demolition services located at 10 Northview Drive, 5 Bel Aire Drive and 10 Bel Aire Drive to Elder
Corporation of Des Moines, Iowa in the amount of $36,500.00.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waukee, Iowa that
the quotes for the structure demolition as noted above be accepted and approved.
Passed by the City Council of the City of Waukee, Iowa, and approved the 21st day of December
2020.

2. SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS:
A. This Proposal may be withdrawn by us if not accepted within 14 days. Payment to be made in monthly
draws. Nothing shall obligate Elder Corporation outside the scope listed herein.
B. We are not responsible for locating or notifying private utilities.
3. The Agreement may be withdrawn by Elder Corporation without notice at any time prior to receipt by Elder
Corporation at its home office of a fully executed copy of same.
4. The laws of the State of Iowa shall apply to all claims and disputes arising out of or related to this Agreement
and/or the Project.
ACCEPTANCE OF PROPOSAL
We have carefully read and reviewed and hereby accept the foregoing Proposal for Construction Agreement
from Elder Corporation.
