SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The project bid letting was held at Waukee City Hall
on Wednesday, January 16, 2019, at 3:00 p.m. Three (3) apparent bids
were received, with the low bid submitted by Koester Construction
Company of Grimes, IA, in the amount of $1,395,000.00.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:$1,395,000.00
COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT:
STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: City staff recommends awarding contract to Koester
Construction Company of Grimes, IA, in the amount of $1,395,000.00.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution awarding contract to Koester Construction
Company of Grimes, IA, in the amount of $1,395,000.00.

RESOLUTION 19-
RESOLUTION MAKING AWARD OF CONSTRUCTION
CONTRACT FOR THE NORTHWEST AREA WATER MAIN
CHLORAMINATION
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, STATE
OF IOWA:
Section 1.That the following bid for the construction of certain public improvements
described in general as the Northwest Area Water Main Chloramination, described in the plans
and specifications heretofore adopted by this Council on January 21, 2019, be and is hereby
accepted, the same being the lowest responsive, responsible bid received for such work, as
follows:
Contractor: Koester Construction Co. of Grimes, IA
Amount of bid: $1,395,000.00
Portion of project: All construction work
Section 2. That the Mayor and Clerk are hereby directed to execute the contract with the
contractor for the construction of the public improvements, such contract not to be binding on the
City until approved by this Council.
PASSED AND APPROVED this 21st day of January, 2019.
