Warranties of America license fees to Project Share

SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: As part of a Marketing Agreement with Service Line
Warranties of America, the City shall receive an annual license fee
payment. The Waukee City Council has directed that such fees received
by the City shall be directed to the Project Share program, which assists
qualifying households having difficulty paying wintertime energy bills.

RESOLUTION 19-
DIRECTING SERVICE LINE WARRANTIES OF AMERICA LICENSE FEES TO
PROJECT SHARE
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Dallas County, State of Iowa, is a duly organized Municipal
Organization; AND,
WHEREAS, on August 20, 2018, the Waukee City Council approved a revised Marketing
Agreement (the “Agreement”) with Utility Service Partners Private Label, Inc., d/b/a Service
Line Warranties of America in order to market optional sewer and water line lateral service
warrantees to residential homeowners (Resolution #18-331); AND,
WHEREAS, as part of the Agreement, Service Line Warranties of American shall pay an annual
License Fee to the City as set forth in Exhibit A of the Agreement; AND,
WHEREAS, the Waukee City Council believes that any License Fee received as part of the
Agreement should be directed to the Project Share program, which assists households in need
with paying their wintertime energy bills; AND,
WHEREAS, on an annual basis, Project Share funds held by the City of Waukee are turned over
to the social service agency New Opportunities of Perry, IA, for distribution through the Low
Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP);
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waukee that
License Fees paid by Service Line Warranties of America shall be directed to Project Share to
assist qualifying households having difficulty paying wintertime energy bills.
Passed by the City Council of the City of Waukee, Iowa, and approved the 21st day of January,
2019.
