cost [Waukee City Hall Renovation Project]

SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The proposed City Hall Exterior Improvements
Project consists of removal and replacement of several exterior
components of the building which are in need of repair including
windows, hard board siding, gutters and fascia. The project also consists
of the reconstruction of the two north entrances into the building
including the construction of vestibules. Finally, the project consists of
site improvements including ADA accessibility deficiencies, parking lot
lighting and safety elements/improvements.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:

STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Waukee City Hall was constructed in 1998. Many
elements of the exterior are failing and need to be replaced. The
proposed project takes care of the maintenance elements of the building
and includes other elements to make the building more energy efficient,
create additional safety features and address ADA compliance issues.
The City Council hired Shive Hattery to complete the design of the
project including bidding documents and construction observation. The
plans, specifications, form of contract and estimate of cost are on file in
the City Clerk’s office.
RECOMMENDATION: Hold the Public Hearing
