SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The project bid letting was held at Waukee City Hall
on Wednesday, January 16, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. Eleven (11) apparent bids
were received, with the low base bid submitted by Keller Excavating of
Boone, IA in the amount of $1,125,116.00 and an Add Alternate #1 bid
of $161,470.00 for a total of $1,286,586.00.
On 01/21/2019, the Waukee City Council deferred award of contract due
to certain outstanding issues regarding easement acquisition.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:$1,286,586.00
COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT:
STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: City staff recommends awarding contract to Keller
Excavating of Boone, IA in the amount of $1,286,586.00.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution awarding contract to Keller Excavating of
Boone, IA in the amount of $1,286,586.00.

RESOLUTION 19-
RESOLUTION MAKING AWARD OF CONSTRUCTION
CONTRACT FOR THE NORTHWEST AREA WATER MAIN
EXTENSION - PHASE 2
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, STATE
OF IOWA:
Section 1.That the following bid for the construction of certain public improvements
described in general as the Northwest Area Water Main Extension - Phase 2, described in the
plans and specifications heretofore adopted by this Council on January 21, 2019, be and is
hereby accepted, the same being the lowest responsive, responsible bid received for such work,
as follows:
Contractor: Keller Excavating of Boone, IA
Amount of bid: $1,286,586.00
Portion of project: All construction work
Section 2. That the Mayor and Clerk are hereby directed to execute the contract with the
contractor for the construction of the public improvements, such contract not to be binding on the
City until approved by this Council.
PASSED AND APPROVED this 4th day of February, 2019.
