HomeMy WebLinkAbout2019-04-15-J01F Street Closing - BACooN Bike RideAGENDA ITEM: J1F CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA CITY COUNCIL MEETING COMMUNICATION MEETING DATE: April 15, 2019 AGENDA ITEM:Consideration of approval of a resolution approving the temporary closing of certain public streets for the BACooN Bike Ride FORMAT:Consent Agenda SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The temporary street closing is for a portion of Park Road the morning of the bike ride (06/15/2019). FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT: STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Iowa Code §364.12(2)(a) states that public ways and grounds may be temporarily closed by resolution. RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution. ATTACHMENTS: I. Proposed Resolution PREPARED BY:Becky Schuett REVIEWED BY: THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA RESOLUTION 19- APPROVING THE TEMPORARY CLOSING OF CERTAIN PUBLIC STREETS FOR THE BACOON BIKE RIDE IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Dallas County, State of Iowa, is a duly organized Municipal Organization; AND, WHEREAS, Centennial Park in Waukee will act as the starting point for the BACooN Bike Ride on Saturday, June 15, 2019; AND, WHEREAS, Centennial Park shall also serve as a camping site for BACooN Bike Ride participants the evening of Friday, June 14, 2019; AND, WHEREAS, in an effort to improve traffic flow and increase safety for the event, Waukee Parks and Recreation staff recommend the temporary closure of SE Park Road from SE Ashworth Drive west approximately 1,000 feet beginning 7:00 a.m. and ending 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2019; AND, WHEREAS, pursuant to §364.12(2)(a), public ways and grounds may be temporarily closed by resolution; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this 15th day of April, 2019, that it hereby approves the temporary closing of certain public streets for the BACooN Bike Ride. ____________________________ William F.
