Home My WebLink About2019-04-15-J12 Address Change Project Phase I AGENDA ITEM: CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA CITY COUNCIL MEETING COMMUNICATION MEETING DATE: April 15, 2019 AGENDA ITEM: Consideration of approval of a resolution approving the amendment of certain addresses within the City of Waukee FORMAT: Resolution SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: Since joining Westcom Emergency Communications, several existing addresses have been flagged related to inconsistencies with our overall addressing system throughout the City. The concerns relate to confusion with similar addresses that are located in different parts of the City as well as the use of multiple names for the same street (Hickman Road/Highway 6). FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT: STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Staff sent letters to all affected addresses on March 11, 2019. Staff has had a few inquiries regarding the change via phone as well as a few emails. The emailed correspondence is attached. Staff has also coordinated with the post office regarding address changes. Because the majority of changes relate to adding a directional, nothing will need to be done on the homeowner’s part. City staff will coordinate with the post office on the changes and both the existing address and proposed address will continue to be recognized for a period of 18 months. RECOMMENDATION: Staff is recommending approval of the resolution which includes properties located in the NW and NE quadrants of the City as well as properties along Hickman Road and Warrior Lane.
