construction contract for the 2019 University Avenue Improvements, 6th
Street to 10th Street Project
FORMAT:Resolution
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The City of Waukee received bids until 2pm on
Wednesday, May 1, 2019 for this project. Two bids were received from
Grimes Asphalt & Paving Corporation and OMG Midwest, Inc. dba Des
Moines Asphalt & Paving. Grimes Asphalt & Paving Corp had the low
bid in the amount of $209,815.00. The engineer’s estimate for this
project was $189,000.00.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: $209,815.00

RESOLUTION MAKING AWARD OF CONSTRUCTION
CONTRACT FOR THE 2019 UNIVERSITY AVENUE
IMPROVEMENTS (6TH STREET TO 10TH STREET)
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, STATE
OF IOWA:
Section 1.That the following bid for the construction of certain public improvements
described in general as the 2019 University Avenue Improvements (6th Street to 10th Street),
described in the plans and specifications heretofore adopted by this Council on May 6, 2019, be
and is hereby accepted, the same being the lowest responsive, responsible bid received for such
work, as follows:
Contractor: Grimes Asphalt & Paving Corp. of Des Moines, IA
Amount of bid: $209,815.00
Portion of project: All construction work
Section 2.That the Mayor and Clerk are hereby directed to execute the contract with the
contractor for the construction of the public improvements, such contract not to be binding on the
City until approved by this Council.
PASSED AND APPROVED this 6th day of May, 2019.
