AGENDA ITEM:Consideration of approval of a resolution approving the temporary
closing of certain public streets for the Celebrate Waukee Festival
FORMAT:Consent Agenda
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The temporary street closing are for the
Celebrate Waukee pancake breakfast, fireworks display, and other
downtown-area activities.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:
COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT:
STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Iowa Code §364.12(2)(a) states that public ways and
grounds may be temporarily closed by resolution.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution.

THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
RESOLUTION 19-
APPROVING THE TEMPORARY CLOSING OF CERTAIN PUBLIC STREETS FOR
THE CELEBRATE WAUKEE FESTIVAL
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Dallas County, State of Iowa, is a duly organized Municipal
Organization; AND,
WHEREAS, the Waukee Festivals Committee requests the following temporary closures of
specific public streets for activities associated with the Celebrate Waukee Festival:
Pancake Breakfast: Ashworth Drive from 6th Street north and west 150 feet beginning
6:00 a.m. and ending 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2019;
Festival Activities: Walnut Street from 5th Street west to 6th Street beginning 6:00 a.m.
and ending 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2019;
Fireworks Display: SE University Avenue from S. Warrior Lane east to SE Waddell Way
and S. Warrior Lane from SE University Avenue north to SE Park Road beginning 8:30
p.m. and ending 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2019; AND,
WHEREAS, pursuant to §364.12(2)(a), public ways and grounds may be temporarily closed by
resolution;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this
20th day of May, 2019, that it hereby approves the temporary closing of certain public streets for
the Celebrate Waukee Festival.
