HomeMy WebLinkAbout2019-05-20-J01M City Hall Renovation_Change Order 1 AGENDA ITEM: CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA CITY COUNCIL MEETING COMMUNICATION MEETING DATE: May 20, 2019 AGENDA ITEM: Consideration of approval of Change Order No. 1 to Ball Team, LLC, for the Waukee City Hall Renovation Project, increasing the contract in the amount of $12,706.00. FORMAT: Consent Agenda SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The proposed Change Order No. 1 consists of five increases to the contract as well as one decrease to the contract. The proposed changes are as follows: 1. Structural modifications were necessary related to the four columns that were located on the front of the building. It was determined that the existing columns did not have any structural components upon demolition. 2. Additional roof drain connections were added to eliminate the downspouts from pouring directly into the parking lot. 3. Additional subgrade prep was necessary because it was determined that the existing pavement was thicker than was anticipated. 4. Metal stud construction is being used in lieu of the previous masonry unit columns which resulted in a significant savings 5. The concrete pad for the employee picnic table was enlarged 6. A temporary restroom facility was moved onto the site for workers during construction. FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT: STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: The proposed changes are accounted for within the project contingency.
