SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The project bid letting was held at Waukee City Hall
on Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. Three (3) apparent bids were
received, with the low bid submitted by Concrete Technologies, Inc., of
Grimes, IA, in the amount of $1,413,944.10.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:$1,413,944.10
COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT:
STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: City staff recommends awarding contract to Concrete
Technologies, Inc., of Grimes, IA, in the amount of $1,413,944.10.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution awarding contract to Concrete Technologies,
Inc., of Grimes, IA, in the amount of $1,413,944.10.

RESOLUTION 19-
RESOLUTION MAKING AWARD OF CONSTRUCTION
CONTRACT FOR THE SE KETTLESTONE BOULEVARD
EXTENSION EAST OF GRAND PRAIRIE PARKWAY
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, STATE
OF IOWA:
Section 1.That the following bid for the construction of certain public improvements
described in general as the SE Kettlestone Boulevard Extension East of Grand Prairie Parkway,
described in the plans and specifications heretofore adopted by this Council on June 3, 2019, be
and is hereby accepted, the same being the lowest responsive, responsible bid received for such
work, as follows:
Contractor: Concrete Technologies, Inc.,of Grimes, IA
Amount of bid: $1,413,944.10
Portion of project: All construction work
Section 2.That the Mayor and Clerk are hereby directed to execute the contract with the
contractor for the construction of the public improvements, such contract not to be binding on the
City until approved by this Council.
PASSED AND APPROVED this 3rd day of June, 2019.

East of Grand Prairie Parkway
Dear Mr. Koester:
The Bid Letting for the referenced Project was held on May 28, 2019 and bids were received from a total
of three (3) different bidders. A summary of the bids is as follows:

Concrete Technologies, Inc. Grimes, IA $1,413,944.10
Absolute Concrete Slater, IA $1,459,694.75
Alliance Construction Group Grimes, IA $1,417,771.50
Our Engineer’s Opinion of Probable Cost for the Total Bid Amount for this project was $1,439,492.50.
Attached please find a detailed Tabulation of Bids for your information.
We have reviewed the lowest responsive bid and bid attachments and everything appears to be in order.
It is recommended that the City of Waukee award contract for this work to Concrete Technologies, Inc.,
of Grimes, Iowa in the amount of $1,413,944.10. Appropriate contract documents have been prepared for
signatures and forwarded to the Contractor for City Council award on June 3, 2019.
