FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT: STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Iowa Code §364.12(2)(a) states that public ways and grounds may be temporarily closed by resolution. RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution. ATTACHMENTS: I. Proposed Resolution PREPARED BY:Becky Schuett REVIEWED BY: PUBLIC NOTICE INFORMATION – NAME OF PUBLICATION: DATE OF PUBLICATION: J1E THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA RESOLUTION 19- APPROVAL OF THE TEMPORARY CLOSING OF CERTAIN PORTIONS OF PUBLIC STREETS ON THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 26, 2019, FOR THE WAUKEE COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT HOMECOMING PARADE IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Iowa is a duly organized municipality within Dallas County; AND, WHEREAS, Waukee High School will have its 2019 football homecoming game on the evening of Friday, September 27; AND, WHEREAS, as part of the homecoming festivities, the Waukee High School student council has scheduled a parade to be held on Thursday, September 26, 2019, and requests that certain streets be closed temporarily for the parade route; AND, WHEREAS, pursuant to §364.12(2)(a), public ways and grounds may be temporarily closed by resolution. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this 3rd day of September, 2019, that it hereby approves the temporary closing of certain portions of streets from the Vince Meyer Learning Center parking lot west on Locust to Sixth Street, north on Sixth Street to Ashworth Drive, south and east on Ashworth Drive to Fourth Street, south on Fourth Street to Northview Drive, east on Northview Drive to Warrior Lane, south on Warrior Lane to the Waukee Middle School parking lot for the Waukee Community School District Homecoming Parade, with said street closing between the hours of 5:30 p.m. and approximately 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 26, 2019. ____________________________ William F.
