SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The City-County Communications & Marketing
Association (3CMA) announced the 2019 winners of its national Savvy
Awards Competition during a ceremony at the Hilton Denver City Center
- Denver, CO on Thursday, Sept. 5. The City of Waukee was the Silver
Circle Award Winner in the 2019 Savvy Awards competition in the
category: Digital Interactive – Electronic Newsletter. The Waukee
Marketing & Communications Department worked to redesign and
relaunch the City’s bi-monthly newsletter in late 2018 with goals to
make it more mobile-friendly, align branding and ensure newsletter users
were receiving important information in a concise manner.
Savvy Awards judges noted that the new design was an “awesome
improvement from the past to the current! The layout is great and the
GIFs really add to the consumable content. It is a really mobile-friendly
layout. This is a great looking e-newsletter! I love the bold colors, and
the short, to the point content.”
The Savvy Awards, held in conjunction with 3CMA’s Annual
Conference, recognize outstanding local government achievements in
communications, public-sector marketing and citizen-government
relationships. The Savvies salute skilled and effective city, county,
agency or district professionals who have creatively planned and carried
out successful innovations in communications and marketing. 3CMA
accommodates local government organizations of all sizes and budget
classes by judging entries in several different population groups. Over
700 entries in 40 categories were received. 3CMA utilized volunteer
judges from across the United States to review every entry and provide
constructive comments on the winning entries. 72 first-place Savvy
Awards were presented. 72 second-place Silver Circle Awards and 73
third-place Awards of Excellence were also presented.
