HomeMy WebLinkAbout2019-10-07-K01zGG Gonnerman Property Rezoning - Set PH AGENDA ITEM: CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA CITY COUNCIL MEETING COMMUNICATION MEETING DATE: October 7, 2019 AGENDA ITEM: Consideration of approval of a motion setting November 4, 2019, as the date of public hearing on an ordinance to amend Chapter 169, Zoning Regulations, District Regulations, City of Waukee, Iowa, by rezoning and changing certain property therein from A-1 (Agricultural District) to K-RC (Kettlestone Retail Community) [Gonnerman Property] FORMAT: Consent SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: Donald Gonnerman, owner, and Brad and Dad LLC, developer, have requested rezoning of approximately 9.74 acres of property from A-1 Agricultural District to K-RC Kettlestone Retail Community District.. The property is located at 3319 Ashworth Road. In order to set a public hearing to discuss a rezoning, the applicant is required to receive written consent from 50% of the surrounding property within a 200 foot radius of the property. Alternatively, the City Council can set a public hearing date on behalf of the applicant. The applicant has indicated that they have been unsuccessful in receiving the 50% consent from surrounding property owners. FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT: STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Staff would recommend approval of the City Council setting the public hearing date for November 4, 2019 to discuss this matter further. Council action to set the public hearing date does not indicate support for the project. Rather, it represents the Council’s willingness to allow the public hearing process to continue.
