AGENDA ITEM:Consideration of approval of a resolution approving Certification Expense
Reimbursement Agreement between McKenna Olberding and the City of
Waukee
FORMAT:Consent Agenda
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: McKenna Olberding was recently hired by the Waukee
Police Department in the position of Police Officer. Ms. Olberding will train
with the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy at the City’s cost. The
Certification Training Expense Agreement addresses repayment to the City if
the employee is unable to complete training or if the employee is terminated
or resigns within the first four (4) years of employment with the City,
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: Estimated $9,295.00.
COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT:
STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: The Waukee Police and Human Resources departments
recommend approval of the agreement.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution.

RESOLUTION 19-
APPROVING CERTIFICATION TRAINING EXPENSE REIMBURSEMENT
AGREEMENT BETWEEN MCKENNA OLBERDING AND THE CITY OF
WAUKEE, IA
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Dallas County, State of Iowa, is a duly organized
Municipal Organization; AND,
WHEREAS, as part of an approved offer of employment and in order to fulfill all the duties
of a Waukee Police Officer, McKenna Olberding is required to undergo training through the
Iowa Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA); AND;
WHEREAS, City staff recommends approval of a Certification Training Expense
Reimbursement Agreement to address matters related to said ILEA training;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session
this 21st day of October, 2019, that the Certification Training Expense Reimbursement
Agreement between McKenna Olberding and the City of Waukee, IA, is hereby accepted and
approved.
