SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The project bid letting was held at Waukee City Hall
on Tuesday, October 29, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. Five (5) apparent bids were
received, with the low bid submitted by Absolute Concrete Construction,
Inc., of Slater, IA, in the amount of $9,845,649.70 ($9,569,777.70 base
bid and $275,872.00 alternate bid).
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:$9,845,649.70
COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT:
STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: City staff recommends awarding contract to Absolute
Concrete Construction, Inc., of Slater, IA, in the amount of
$9,845,649.70.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution

RESOLUTION MAKING AWARD OF CONSTRUCTION
CONTRACT FOR THE NW 10TH STREET IMPROVEMENTS
W. HICKMAN ROAD TO NW DOUGLAS PARKWAY
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, STATE
OF IOWA:
Section 1.That the following bid for the construction of certain public improvements
described in general as the NW 10th Street Improvements W. Hickman Road to NW Douglas
Parkway, described in the plans and specifications heretofore adopted by this Council on
November 4, 2019, be and is hereby accepted, the same being the lowest responsive, responsible
bid received for such work, as follows:
Contractor: Absolute Concrete Construction, Inc., of Slater, IA
Amount of bid: $9,845,649.70
Portion of project: All construction work
Section 2.That the Mayor and Clerk are hereby directed to execute the contract with the
contractor for the construction of the public improvements, such contract not to be binding on the
City until approved by this Council.
PASSED AND APPROVED this 4th day of November, 2019.
