RECOMMENDATION: The Mayor shall present the proclamation to Lyn Schafer.

THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
PROCLAMATION
IN RECOGNITION OF LYN SCHAFER
UPON HER RETIREMENT
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, Lyn Schafer and her Classic Floral Design have been mainstays in the Waukee
Triangle Business District since 1990; AND,
WHEREAS, the Classic Floral Design mission statement includes a strong commitment to
community involvement, and Lyn has more than met that mission; AND,
WHEREAS, she has actively promoted local business as a member of the Waukee Triangle
Businesses and the Waukee Area Chamber of Commerce, and has been a driving force
behind the greatly successful Waukee Farmers Market; AND,
WHEREAS, Lyn has also provided and maintained landscape plantings in the historic
Triangle area, along the Heart of the Warrior recreational trail, and at the Sugar Creek
Municipal Golf Course; and has served on many City committees, including those for Fall
Festival, Downtown Design, and Alice’s Road Corridor Design; AND,
WHEREAS, her passion in promoting the Waukee Triangle Business District has ensured
that the area will continue to thrive; AND,
WHEREAS, Lyn is retiring after more than 27 years of doing business in Waukee, and her
positive attitude, energy and enthusiasm will be greatly missed in the Waukee business
community.
NOW THEREFORE, I, William F. Peard, Mayor of Waukee, do hereby sincerely thank
Lyn Schafer for her years of service to and friendship with the City of Waukee, and I wish
her health and happiness in retirement.
IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have hereunto
subscribed my name and caused the Great Seal of the
City of Waukee to be affixed this January 2, 2018.
