SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: Quotes were received until 4:00 PM on Thursday, March
15, 2018 for the Little Walnut Creek Trunk Sewer Phase 3/Indi Run Trunk
Sewer Tree Felling Project. A total of four quotations were received. The
apparent low quotation was submitted by both Turnbull’s Tree Service, LC of
Norwalk, IA and FINCO Tree and Wood Service LLC of Kelley, Iowa in the
amount of $4,500.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:$4,500
COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT:
STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Veenstra & Kimm, Inc. recommends awarding the contract
to Turnbull’s Tree Service, LC of Norwalk, Iowa in the amount of $4,500.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve Resolution

IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF WAUKEE, IOWA:
That the following quote for certain public improvements described in general as the Little
Walnut Creek Trunk Sewer Phase 3/Indi Run Trunk Sewer Project, Tree Felling, and described
in the Request for Quotes that was provided to vendors be and is hereby accepted, the same being
the lowest responsible quote received for such work, as follows:
Contractor: Turnbull’s Tree Service, LC, of Norwalk, IA
Amount of quote: $4,500.00
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Tree Felling Project award is contingent upon the
completion of the City of Waukee’s acquisition of all easements related to and necessary for the
Little Walnut Creek Trunk Sewer Phase 3/Indi Run Trunk Sewer Project.
PASSED AND APPROVED this 19th day of March, 2018.

RECOMMENDATION TO AWARD CONTRACT
Quotes were received until 4:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 15, 2018 for the Little Walnut
Creek Trunk Sewer Extension – Phase 3/Indi Run Trunk Sewer Tree Felling Project. A total
of four quotations were received as follows:
Contractor Base Bid
Turnbull’s Tree Service, LC $4,500
FINCO Tree and Wood Service LLC $4,500
J.C.’s Tree Service $8,990
J. Pettiecord, Inc. $40,000
The apparent low quotation was submitted by both Turnbull’s Tree Service, LC of
Norwalk, Iowa and FINCO Tree and Wood Service LLC of Kelley, Iowa in the amount of
$4,500.
Our recommendation is to award the contract to Turnbull’s Tree Service, LC of Norwalk,
Iowa in the amount of $4,500 in accordance with our recommendation to award the
contract to them for the West Area Trunk Sewer – Phase 1 Tree Felling project.
