AGENDA ITEM: Public Hearing on the adoption of a proposed Amendment No. 1 to the
Waukee West Urban Renewal Plan
FORMAT: Public Hearing
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The City Council adopted the Waukee West
Urban Renewal Plan in large part related to the approval of the Apple Data
Project in 2017. The objective of the Plan is to maximize the future
expenditure of incremental property tax revenues necessary to promote
economic development and complete necessary public infrastructure
improvements.
The purpose of the proposed Amendment #1 to the Waukee West Urban
Renewal Plan is to include additional property that is in the process of
being acquired by Apple for purposes of the data center, the property that
has been acquired for the second high school/recreation complex, the
property that is proposed to be acquired for the civic campus as well as
other properties where public infrastructure is expected to be constructed
through over the next several years.
In addition to inclusion of property, the plan has been updated to reflect
additional eligible public improvement projects as well as an update to
the financial data included within the plan.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:

STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: In accordance with State Code, staff held a consultation
with the other taxing entities affected by this plan. There was no one in
attendance at the consultation.
RECOMMENDATION: Hold the Public Hearing
