AGENDA ITEM:Consideration of approval of a resolution approving the temporary
closing of certain public streets for the Celebrate Waukee Festival
FORMAT:Consent Agenda
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The temporary street closing is for the fireworks
display planned for Celebrate Waukee. No other street closings have
been requested.

STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Iowa Code §364.12(2)(a) states that public ways and
grounds may be temporarily closed by resolution.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution.

RESOLUTION 18-
APPROVING THE TEMPORARY CLOSING OF CERTAIN PUBLIC STREETS FOR
THE CELEBRATE WAUKEE FESTIVAL
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Dallas County, State of Iowa, is a duly organized Municipal
Organization; AND,
WHEREAS, the Celebrate Waukee Planning Committee requests the following temporary
closures of specific public streets for activities associated with the Celebrate Waukee Festival:
•Fireworks Display: The temporary closing of SE University Avenue from S. Warrior
Lane east to SE Waddell Way and S. Warrior Lane from SE University Avenue north to
SE Park Road beginning 8:30 p.m. and ending 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2018;
AND,
WHEREAS, pursuant to §364.12(2)(a), public ways and grounds may be temporarily closed by
resolution;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this
7th day of May, 2018, that it hereby approves the temporary closing of certain public streets for
the Celebrate Waukee Festival.
