AGENDA ITEM: Consideration of approval of a Motion to set a Public Hearing Date of
June 18, 2018, as the date of public hearing on an ordinance to amend
Chapter 222, Building Code Regulations to add a new section regarding
Rental Code
FORMAT: Motion
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: Staff has prepared an ordinance for
consideration that create a rental inspection program for the City. With
the updated special Census and with the growing number of rental units
located within the City of Waukee, it is necessary to put into place a
rental property code and inspection process to insure that all rental units
within the City of Waukee are maintained for safety and upkeep for its
residents and the general public.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:
COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT:
STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Staff would recommend a public hearing date be set for
June 18, 2018, to further discuss the proposed changes.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the motion.
