CITY COUNCIL MEETING COMMUNICATION
MEETING DATE: August 6, 2018
AGENDA ITEM: Public Hearing on the transfer of property to the Waukee Community School
District by the City of Waukee.
FORMAT: Public Hearing
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: Consistent with a 28E agreement between the City of
Waukee and Waukee Community School District, the two entities purchased
approximately 160 acres of property located ½ mile north of Hickman Road
and east of 10th Street for the planned second high school and youth sports
complex.
Per the terms of the agreement, the district paid for and acquired the western
80 acres of the property and the City purchased and acquired the eastern 80
acres of the property.
Upon completion of the site planning process for the project, it has been
determined that the City should ultimately own the north 66.16 acres of the
property and the District should own the southern 74.55 acres. The remaining
acres are a part of the various street right of ways.
In order to accommodate this action, the School District, at their July 16th
Board Meeting took action to deed over the western 80 acres to the City.
With that action, the City is currently the owner of all 160 acres.

STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: The Public Hearing is to allow for discussion of disposal of
the south 74.55 acres back to the School District which has been identified as
Lot 1 on the proposed final plat for this property.
RECOMMENDATION: Hold the Public Hearing
