AGENDA ITEM:Consideration of approval of a resolution approving City Administrator’s
appointment of Public Works Director/City Engineer, effective October
1, 2018
FORMAT:Consent Agenda
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: Public Works Director John Gibson will retire at the
end of September 2018. The City Administrator recommends the
appointment of Rudy Koester as Public Works Director/City Engineer,
effective October 1, 2018.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:
COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT:
STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: The City Council must approve the City
Administrator’s appointment of a department director position.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution.

RESOLUTION 18-
APPROVING CITY ADMINISTRATOR’S APPOINTMENT OF PUBLIC
WORKS DIRECTOR/CITY ENGINEER, EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 1, 2018
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Dallas County, State of Iowa, is a duly organized
Municipal Organization; AND,
WHEREAS, Public Works Director John Gibson is schedule to retire from employment
with the City of Waukee as of September 30, 2018; AND,
WHEREAS, following the solicitation and review of applications for the position, City
Administrator Tim Moerman recommends the appointment of Rudy Koester as Public
Works Director/City Engineer;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Waukee, Iowa on the
6th of August, 2018, does hereby approve the appointment of Rudy Koester as Public
Works Director/City Engineer, effective October 1, 2018.
