HomeMy WebLinkAbout2018-08-20-J02 CEDAC Repeal_INTRO, 1ST READAGENDA ITEM: CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA CITY COUNCIL MEETING COMMUNICATION MEETING DATE: August 20, 2018 AGENDA ITEM:Consideration of approval of an ordinance to repeal Chapter 114 of the Waukee Municipal Code as specified (Community and Economic Development Advisory Council) [introduction; first reading] FORMAT:Ordinance SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The City Council discussed the repeal of this ordinance at the 07/23/2018 special meeting: 2018-2019 Strategic Plan: Community and Economic Development Advisory Council evaluation – Community and Economic Development Director Dutcher stated that the initial purpose of CEDAC has been fulfilled and recommended the repeal of the ordinance establishing the committee. FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT: STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Staff would recommend approval of the first reading of the ordinance to repeal Chapter 114. RECOMMENDATION: Introduce the ordinance and approve the first reading in title only. ATTACHMENTS: I. Proposed Ordinance PREPARED BY:Dan Dutcher REVIEWED BY: J2 ORDINANCE NO. AN ORDINANCE TO REPEAL CHAPTER 114 OF THE WAUKEE MUNICIPAL CODE AS SPECIFIED BELOW: WHEREAS, the City of Waukee has determined that the Community and Economic Development Advisory Council as established by Chapter 114 of the Waukee Municipal Code is no longer necessary as a standing committee for the City; AND WHEREAS, the City of Waukee has determined it is in the best interest of the City to repeal Chapter 114 of the Waukee Municipal Code. BE IT THEREFORE ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Waukee: Section 1. Chapter 114, Waukee Municipal Code, should be and the same is hereby repealed. Section 2 Repealer. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed. Section 3. Severability Clause. If any section, provision or part of this ordinance shall be adjudged invalid or unconstitutional, such adjudication shall not affect the validity of the ordinance as a whole or any section, provisions or part thereof not adjudged invalid or unconstitutional. Section 4. Effective Date. This ordinance shall be in effect from and after its final passage, approval and publication as provided by law.
