AGENDA ITEM:Consideration of approval of a motion to rescind action taken on August 20,
2018 denying approval of the site plan for Shadow Creek Car Wash [870 NE
Douglas Parkway]

SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: On 08/20/2018, the Waukee City Council considered a site
plan for Shadow Creek Car Wash [870 NE Douglas Parkway]:
Resolution:Consideration of approval of a resolution approving site plan for Shadow Creek
Car Wash [870 NE Douglas Parkway] – Council Member Bergman moved to approve the
resolution; seconded by Council Member Hughes. Development Services Director Deets
reminded the council that consideration of the site plan was postponed at the 08/06 meeting in
order for City staff to notify nearby residential property owners. No person notified responded
to the letter. Results of vote: Ayes: Bergman, Hughes. Nays: Bottenberg, Absent: Clarke,
Lyon. Motion defeated 2 – 1 – 2.
As the council member on the side of the prevailing vote, Council Member
Bottenberg has requested a motion to rescind the 08/20/2018 vote so that the
matter can be considered by the council as a whole.

STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: If the council approves the motion to rescind the previous
action, consideration of a resolution approving the site plan will immediately
follow.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the motion.
