Park PVC conduit]

SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: At the City Council’s August 6th meeting an
agreement with MidAmerican Energy was approved to provide
electricity to the Fox Creek Park Project. The installation of the
approximately 800 feet of conduit was to be completed by the City of
Waukee. The conduit was represented in the overall park budget as
owner supplied. Staff received two quotes for the installation of
approximately 800 feet of 4” PVC conduit with the low quote from Iowa
Signal Inc. City Staff budgeted $19,580 to cover the expenses.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:$12,000.00 + $700 per
10’ wide sidewalk crossing. Worst case scenario there would be 4 trail
crossing, but will be determined upon installation.
COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT:
STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Staff would recommend approving the Iowa Signal Inc.
Quote.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution

AWARDING QUOTE [FOX CREEK PARK PVC CONDUIT]
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF WAUKEE, IOWA:
That the following quote for certain public improvements described in general as the Fox
Creek Park Improvement Project, PVC Conduit Installation, and described in the Request for
Quotes that was provided to vendors be and is hereby accepted, the same being the lowest
responsible quote received for such work, as follows:
Contractor: Iowa Signal, Inc., of Grimes, IA
Amount of quote: $12,000.00 + $700.00 per 10’ wide sidewalk crossing
PASSED AND APPROVED this 10th day of September, 2018.

Quotation:
Install 4" Sch. 40 PVC conduit for Mid American per plan (attached) dated 7/3/2018, from
transformer to ROW.
Trench and install 2 - 4" PVC conduits, cover depth 42" from existing grade
800 feet @ $15.00 per foot = $12.000.00
Payment based on measured trench footage
Boring under existing sidewalks
Bore for sidewalks up to 10' wide $700.00 Each
Conduits to be installed one above the other, bottom of bottom conduit to be approx. 52"
below existing grade.
Install to be scheduled within 2 week after notice to proceed.
Excess spoil to be removed, and disturbed area to be hydro mulched
Installation in normal soil conditions, excludes special construction for sand, frost, etc.
