AGENDA ITEM:Consideration of approval of a resolution authorizing the City of Waukee,
Iowa, to submit an application to the Iowa Department of Transportation,
Iowa Clean Air Attainment Program.
FORMAT:Resolution
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The City of Waukee is considering an adaptive traffic
control system and traffic control improvements for Hickman Road, Alices
Road/Grand Prairie Parkway and University Avenue at a cost of $1,344,000.
The ICAAP application request is for a $1,000,000 grant.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: Possible $1,000,000 grant.

RESOLUTION 18-
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA, TO SUBMIT AN
APPLICATION TO THE IOWA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION IOWA
CLEAN AIR ATTAINMENT PROGRAM FOR THE PARTIAL FUNDING OF THE
CITY OF WAUKEE TRAFFIC SIGNAL ENHANCEMENT PROJECT AND FURTHER
APPROVING THE APPLICATION WHICH OBLIGATES THE CITY TO MATCHING
FUNDS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF SAID PROJECT
WHEREAS, the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) act continued the establish
Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement (CMAQ) program; and
WHEREAS, said program allows for funding to be provided to local jurisdictions for eligible
transportation projects or programs that will contribute to meeting attainment of National
Ambient Air Quality Standards and improvement of air quality; and
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee has determined that by implementing traffic signal
improvements to all traffic signals within the City that there will be less traffic delays thereby
reducing vehicle emissions:
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WAUKEE, IOWA, THAT:
1.The City Council supports and approves the attached application for Iowa Clean
Air Attainment Program funding.
2.The City Council hereby commits to the City matching monies as required by
Iowa Clean Air Attainment Program.
3.The City Council hereby commits to accepting and maintaining these
improvements.
4.The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute the application on behalf of the City.
