AGENDA ITEM: Public Hearing on the adoption of a proposed Amendment No. 1 to the
Southwest Business Park Urban Renewal Plan
FORMAT: Public Hearing
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The City Council adopted the Southwest
Business Park Urban Renewal Plan in 2017 related to the development of
Interstate 80 Industrial Park located south of Interstate 80 and west of R-
22 (Ute Avenue). The objective of the Plan is to maximize the future
expenditure of incremental property tax revenues necessary to promote
economic development and complete necessary public infrastructure
improvements. Following the completion of the Urban Renewal Area, a
development agreement was approved related to incentives for public
infrastructure and retaining an existing Waukee business.
The purpose of the proposed Amendment #1 to the Waukee West Urban
Renewal Plan is to include the remaining portion of the development
including the area that was a part of Plat 2 as well as property that will be
part of a future plat. At the time the URA was originally created, the
property proposed to be added was still located within Dallas County and
going through annexation.

STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: In accordance with State Code, staff held a consultation
with the other taxing entities affected by this plan. There was no one in
attendance at the consultation.
RECOMMENDATION: Hold the Public Hearing
