FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:$135,805.00 COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT: STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: City staff recommends awarding contract to RW Excavating Solutions of Prairie City, IA, in the amount of $135,805.00. Bid tabulation PREPARED BY: Becky Schuett REVIEWED BY: J7B RESOLUTION 18- RESOLUTION MAKING AWARD OF CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT FOR THE SUGAR CREEK MUNICIPAL GOLF COURSE WATER SUPPLY PROJECT BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, STATE OF IOWA: Section 1. That the following bid for the construction of certain public improvements described in general as the Sugar Creek Municipal Golf Course Water Supply Project, described in the plans and specifications heretofore adopted by this Council on October 15, 2018, be and is hereby accepted, the same being the lowest responsive, responsible bid received for such work, as follows: Contractor: RW Excavating Systems of Prairie City, IA Amount of bid: $135,805.00 Portion of project: All construction work Section 2. That the Mayor and Clerk are hereby directed to execute the contract with the contractor for the construction of the public improvements, such contract not to be binding on the City until approved by this Council. All four bids were competitive and responsive. A total base bid received from RW Excavating Solutions of $135,805.00 is less than the Engineers Estimate of $169,580.00 for the project, and is determined to be the lowest responsive, responsible bidder. RW Excavation Solutions has previously performed work for the City, the Sugar Creek Golf Course Bridge Replacement Project in 2017, and they performed well and met all project deadlines and budget requirements. Bolton & Menk, Inc. has reviewed the required bid documents submitted and was satisfied with the responses given; therefore, Bolton & Menk recommends award of the Sugar Creek Municipal Golf Course Water Supply Project to RW Excavating Solutions.
