AGENDA ITEM:Consideration of approval of an ordinance to amend Chapter 502, Waukee
Municipal Code, Traffic Regulations of the City of Waukee, Iowa, by adding
to Section 502, Parking Regulations [introduction; first, second, and final
reading]
FORMAT:Ordinance
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: This No Parking regulation ordinance is a cleanup item
that encompasses all the streets throughout the City that have not previously
been added to the ordinance after final acceptance of the public improvements
for several completed development projects. This ordinance update allows the
Police Department to enforce no parking in areas where signs have been
installed throughout the City.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:

STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: City staff recommends approval of the first reading of the
ordinance in title only and waiver of the second and third readings. The Code
of Iowa requires a vote of not less than three-fourths of all the members of the
council (or 4 out of 5, in Waukee’s case) in order to waive readings of an
ordinance.
RECOMMENDATION: Introduce the ordinance, move to approve the first reading in title only,
waive the second and third readings, and place the ordinance on final passage.

AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 502, WAUKEE MUNICIPAL CODE,
TRAFFIC REGULATIONS OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA, BY AMENDING
SECTION 502 “PARKING REGULATIONS,” CERTAIN PUBLIC STREETS AS
SPECIFIED BELOW
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee has determined that certain public streets should be added
to or eliminated from the no parking ordinances.
BE IT THEREFORE ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Waukee:
Section 1. Chapter 502, Waukee Municipal Code, Traffic Regulations, Section 502.2 is
hereby amended by adding the following streets as follows:
§502.2 No parking is permitted at any time on the east side of the following north-
south streets:
8th Street
9th Street
10th Street
NW First Street
NW Gracewood Drive
SE Frontier Avenue
NE Elk Run Drive
NE Fox Valley Court
NE Owl Ridge Lane
NE Archer Avenue
NE Wilden Drive
NE Addison Drive
SE Bluegrass Circle
SE Westwoods Drive
Section 2. Chapter 502, Waukee Municipal Code, Traffic Regulations, Section 502.3 is
hereby amended by adding the following streets as follows:
§502.3 No parking is permitted at any time on the west side of the following north-
south streets:

Section 4. Chapter 502, Waukee Municipal Code, Traffic Regulations, Section 502.6 should
be and the same is hereby repealed and enacted in lieu thereof is as follows:
§502.6 No parking is permitted on the following streets:
A. No parking is permitted at any time, except as otherwise noted, on the north side of
the following streets:

Section 6. Repealer. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of
this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 7. Severability Clause. If any section, provision or part of this ordinance shall be
adjudged invalid or unconstitutional, such adjudication shall not affect the validity of the ordinance
as a whole or any section, provision, or part thereof not adjudged invalid or unconstitutional.
Section 8. Effective Date. This ordinance shall be in effect upon its final passage, approval
and publication as provided by law.
