RESOLUTION 17-
APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING TRANSFER OF FUNDS TO WAUKEE
FESTIVALS NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Dallas County, State of Iowa, is a duly organized Municipal
Organization; AND,
WHEREAS, a former Waukee Leadership Institute class had a project to help administer what is
now known as the Celebrate Waukee summer festival; AND,
WHEREAS, due in part to their success with Celebrate Waukee, the Waukee Festivals
organization was formed and requests that the City of Waukee allow them to independently
organize and administer Celebrate Waukee and the BACooN Bike Ride registration/pre-ride
event; AND,
WHEREAS, the Waukee Festivals organization has applied for and received 501(c)3 status
from the Internal Revenue Service; AND,
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee has earmarked $24,086.17 in the FY2017 City budget for the
Celebrate Waukee and BACooN Bike Ride events; AND,
WHEREAS, the $24,086.17 total amount includes $8,586.17 in profits from 2015-2016, a
$500.00 reimbursement as part of MidAmerican Energy sponsorship, and $15,000.00 as the
City’s Year 1 contribution to the Waukee Festivals organization.
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee has the utmost confidence in the leadership of the Waukee
Festivals organization to utilize these funds to draw hundreds of visitors to our community for
both events, while providing residents with activities that can be enjoyed by all ages.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waukee, Iowa on
this 21st day of February, 2017, that it hereby approves and authorizes the transfer of $24,086.17
to the Waukee Festivals non-profit organization.
