Walnut Creek Regional Lift Station Expansion Project]

SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The project bid letting was held at Waukee City Hall
on February 15, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. Three (3) apparent bids were
received, with the low bid submitted by Synergy Contracting, LLC, of
Bondurant, IA, in the amount of $1,783,600.00.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: $1,783,600.00
COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT:
STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: City staff recommends awarding contract to Synergy
Contracting, LLC, of Bondurant, IA, in the amount of $1,783,600.00.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution awarding contract to Synergy Contracting,
LLC, of Bondurant, IA, in the amount of $1,783,600.00.

RESOLUTION MAKING AWARD OF CONSTRUCTION
CONTRACT FOR THE LITTLE WALNUT CREEK REGIONAL
LIFT STATION EXPANSION
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,
STATE OF IOWA:
Section 1. That the following bid for the construction of certain public improvements
described in general as the Little Walnut Creek Regional Lift Station Expansion, described in the
plans and specifications heretofore adopted by this Council on February 21, 2017, be and is
hereby accepted, the same being the lowest responsive, responsible bid received for such work,
as follows:

Bondurant, IA
Amount of bid:
$1,783,600.00
Portion of project:
All construction work
Section 2. That the Mayor and Clerk are hereby directed to execute the contract with the
contractor for the construction of the public improvements, such contract not to be binding on the
City until approved by this Council.

LITTLE WALNUT CREEK REGIONAL LIFT STATION EXPANSION PROJECT
RECOMMENDATION TO AWARD CONTRACT
The City of Waukee received bids until 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 for the
Little Walnut Creek Regional Lift Station Expansion project. A total of three bids were
received as follows:
Contractor Total Bid
Synergy Contracting, LLC $1,783,600.00
GM Contracting, Inc. $1,847,223.25
J&K Contracting, LLC $1,987,450.00
The Engineer's Estimate of cost for the construction of the project was $1,698,500. We
recommend the City of Waukee award the contract to Synergy Contracting, LLC in the
amount of $1,783,600 for the Little Walnut Creek Regional Lift Station Expansion project.
