Waukee Area Christian Services

SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: Following a meeting between City Administrator
Moerman and Waukee Area Christian Services Director Melissa Stimple
to review and discuss the City’s proposal, the Waukee Area Christian
Services Board has voted in its favor.

RESOLUTION 17-
APPROVING PARTNERSHIP WITH WAUKEE AREA CHRISTIAN SERVICES
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Iowa is a duly organized municipality within Dallas County;
AND,
WHEREAS, Waukee Area Christian Services is headquartered in Waukee and has a long
history of service to area residents through their food pantry, client advocate services, health
service clinic, and other charitable programs; AND,
WHEREAS, Waukee Area Christian Services provides much-needed services that improve the
quality of life of Waukee residents with limited means through the work of staff and volunteers,
most of whom are Waukee residents; AND,
WHEREAS, Waukee Area Christian Services maintains a strong relationship with the Waukee
Community School District, providing services to many district students and families; AND,
WHEREAS, City of Waukee employees have prior involvement with the Waukee Area
Christian Services mission, including volunteer efforts and personal contributions to the food
pantry and Christmas gift basket program;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this
6th day of March, 2017, that the City shall consider opportunities in each budget year to partner
with Waukee Area Christian Services in their efforts to provide resources to improve the lives of
Waukee residents.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that any such contributions by the City of Waukee to Waukee
Area Christian Services shall be used for specific projects or equipment that primarily benefit
residents living in Waukee or the Waukee Community School District, and that such
contributions shall provide partial funding toward those projects or equipment in order to
encourage additional contributions from other entities or individuals.
