Creek Municipal Golf Course Bridge Replacement Project]

SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The project bid letting was held at Waukee City Hall
on March 15, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. Three (3) apparent bids were received,
with the low bid submitted by RW Excavating Solutions of Prairie City,
IA, in the amount of $107,182.40.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: $107,182.40
COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT:
STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: City staff recommends awarding contract to RW
Excavating Solutions of Prairie City, IA, in the amount of $107,182.40.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution awarding contract to RW Excavating
Solutions of Prairie City, IA, in the amount of $107,182.40.

RESOLUTION MAKING AWARD OF CONSTRUCTION
CONTRACT FOR THE SUGAR CREEK MUNICIPAL GOLF
COURSE BRIDGE REPLACEMENT
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,
STATE OF IOWA:
Section 1. That the following bid for the construction of certain public improvements
described in general as the Sugar Creek Municipal Golf Course Bridge Replacement, described
in the plans and specifications heretofore adopted by this Council on March 20, 2017, be and is
hereby accepted, the same being the lowest responsive, responsible bid received for such work,
as follows:

$107,182.40
Portion of project:
All construction work
Section 2. That the Mayor and Clerk are hereby directed to execute the contract with the
contractor for the construction of the public improvements, such contract not to be binding on the
City until approved by this Council.

On March 15, 2017, 3 bids were received in response to the RFP for the construction of the Sugar Creek
Municipal Golf Course Bridge Replacement. All three bids were competitive and responsive.
A total base bid received from RW Excavating Solutions of $107,182.40 is less than the Engineers
Estimate of $128,970.00 for the project, and is determined to be the lowest responsive, responsible bidder.
Bolton & Menk, Inc. has reviewed the bid documents submitted and was satisfied with the responses
given; therefore, Bolton & Menk recommends award of the Sugar Creek Municipal Golf Course Bridge
Replacement project to RW Excavating Solutions.
The bid tabulation is attached for your use.
