AGENDA ITEM: Consideration of approval of a resolution approving the temporary
closing of SE University Avenue from SE Waddell Way east to SE L.A.
Grant Parkway between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. on
Saturday, April 8, 2017, for the purpose of the Live Healthy Iowa 5K
Event
FORMAT: Consent Agenda
SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The temporary street closing is to allow safer
street crossings for runners participating in the Live Healthy Iowa 5K
event on 04/08/2017. The Waukee Police Department will be stationed
at certain points along the 5K route during the event.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS:

STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Iowa Code §364.12(2)(a) states that public ways and
grounds may be temporarily closed by resolution.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution.

RESOLUTION 17-
APPROVAL OF THE TEMPORARY CLOSING OF SE UNIVERSITY AVENUE FROM
SE WADDELL WAY EAST TO SE L.A. GRANT PARKWAY BETWEEN THE HOURS
OF 7:30 A.M. AND 9:30 A.M. ON SATURDAY, APRIL 8, 2017, FOR THE PURPOSE OF
THE LIVE HEALTHY IOWA 5K EVENT
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Iowa is a duly organized municipality within Dallas County;
AND,
WHEREAS, City staff requests the temporary closing of SE University Avenue from SE
Waddell Way east to SE L.A. Grant Parkway between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. on
Saturday, April 8, 2017, for the purpose of the Live Healthy Iowa 5K Event; AND,
WHEREAS, pursuant to §364.12(2)(a), public ways and grounds may be temporarily closed by
resolution.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Waukee City Council in session this 3rd day
of April, 2017, that it hereby approves the temporary closing of SE University Avenue from SE
Waddell Way east to SE L.A. Grant Parkway between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. on
Saturday, April 8, 2017, for the purpose of the Live Healthy Iowa 5K Event.
