HomeMy WebLinkAbout2017-05-15-J08 Water Availability Task 3► g► Waukee ill I ]HE KEY TO GOOD LIVING AGENDA ITEM: CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA CITY COUNCIL MEETING COMMUNICATION MEETING DATE: May 15, 2017 AGENDA ITEM: Consideration of approval of a resolution approving Waukee/West Des Moines Task 3 FORMAT: Resolution SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: Task I and 2 have been completed and the results show there is water available in 2 areas. Approval of Task 3 will authorize the Consultant to install a 12-inch diameter test well and pump the test well for 72 continuous hours to develop the information required by the IDNR for future water allocation permitting. It also includes installing 2 monitoring wells for data collection and evaluation during the test pumping. If the tests show sufficient water availability Task 3 also authorizes the Consultant to prepare an application for a water use permit from the IDNR. PREPARED BY: Beth Richardson REVIEWED BY: John Gibson PUBLIC NOTICE INFORMATION --- NAME OF PUBLICATION: DATE OF PUBLICATION: THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA RESOLUTION 17- AUTHORIZING VEENSTRA & KIMM, INC., TO PROCEED WITH WAUKEEIWEST DES MOINES WATER WORKS TASK 3 IN THE NAME AND BY THE A UTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA WHEREAS, the City of Waukee, Iowa is a duly organized municipality within Dallas County; AND, WHEREAS, on August 23, 2016, the Waukee City Council approved a Professional Service Agreement [the "Agreement"] with Veenstra & Kimm, Inc., for Joint Waukee/West Des Moines Water Works Source Water Availability Study (Resolution #16-371); AND, WHEREAS, the Agreement included provisions for an optional Task 3, Test Pumping and Water Allocation Permitting; AND, WHEREAS, City staff recommends authorization of Veenstra & Kimm, Inc., to proceed with Task 3, Parts A and B, as specified in the Agreement. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Waukee City Council in session this 15"' day of May, 2017, that it hereby authorizes Veenstra & Kimm, Inc., to proceed with Waukee/West Des Moines Water Works Task 3, Parts A and B.
