HomeMy WebLinkAbout2017-06-05-H05 Interstate 80 Business Park Annexation_PH AGENDA ITEM: CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA CITY COUNCIL MEETING COMMUNICATION MEETING DATE: June 5, 2017 AGENDA ITEM: Public Hearing on the annexation of consenting properties by the City of Waukee, Iowa, with consideration of the annexation taking place immediately thereafter (Interstate 80 Business Park). FORMAT: Public Hearing SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The City was approached by a property owner that was interested in annexing approximately 66 acres located west of Ute Avenue (R-22) and directly south of Interstate 80. The same property owner is in the process of developing Phase I of a business park on property directly to the east which is already located within City Limits. In order to annex the property, three additional properties also needed to be included in the proposed annexation as an island would be created without their inclusion. Staff has worked with those individual property owners in agreeing to voluntary annexation. The proposed annexation is 100% voluntary. FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT: STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Staff would recommend holding the public hearing.
