SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: The project bid letting was held at Waukee City Hall
on May 31, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. One (1) apparent bid was received, with
the low bid submitted by Iowa Signal, Inc., of Grimes, IA, in the amount
of $349,462.52.
FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: $349,462.52
COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT:
STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: City staff recommends awarding contract to Iowa
Signal, Inc., of Grimes, IA, in the amount of $349,462.52.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution awarding contract to Iowa Signal, Inc., of
Grimes, IA, in the amount of $349,462.52.

RESOLUTION MAKING AWARD OF CONSTRUCTION
CONTRACT FOR THE GRAND PRAIRIE PARKWAY & SE
ESKER RIDGE DRIVE TRAFFIC SIGNAL IMPROVEMENTS
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE,
STATE OF IOWA:
Section 1. That the following bid for the construction of certain public improvements
described in general as the Grand Prairie Parkway & SE Esker Ridge Drive Traffic Signal
Improvements, described in the plans and specifications heretofore adopted by this Council on
June 5, 2017, be and is hereby accepted, the same being the lowest responsive, responsible bid
received for such work, as follows:

Iowa Signal, Inc.,
of
Grimes, IA
Amount of bid:
$349,462.52
Portion of project:
All construction work
Section 2. That the Mayor and Clerk are hereby directed to execute the contract with the
contractor for the construction of the public improvements, such contract not to be binding on the
City until approved by this Council.

Traffic Signal Improvements
Grand Prairie Parkway & Esker Ridge Drive
Dear Mr. Gibson:
The Bid Letting for the referenced Project was held on May 31, 2017 and bids were received from a total
of one (1) bidder. A summary of the bids is as follows:

Our Engineer’s Opinion of Probable Cost for this project was $362,397.55.
Attached please find a detailed Tabulation of Bids for your information.
We have reviewed the lowest responsive bid with required attachments and everything appears to be in
order. It is recommended that the City of Waukee award contract for this work to Iowa Signal Inc., of
Grimes, Iowa in the amount of $349,462.52. Appropriate contract documents have been prepared for
signatures and forwarded to the Contractor for City Council award on June 5, 2017.
